It’s an unhappy realization, earned as you stare into the mirror, battle your reflection for style coherency — your accessories don’t… work. Jewelry bores; hats displease; and belts only serve to emphasize the worries of a waist. It’s a collection of dull colors and duller trends: none of which you can remember ever truly enjoying. All purchases were instead made to follow the masses, remain faithful to fashion. But the aesthetics don’t appeal and you’re left without ways to add drama to your outfits. All fabrics must instead be left unadorned.
2011 is seeking to rectify that tragedy, however.
During Fashion Week (when all of the spring styles were revealed and designers offered the latest trends) an unusual accessory kept appearing on the runway — cat eye glasses. These chic items were first offered in the 1950’s, and their style sensibilities haven’t changed since then. They’ve remained instead enticing.
The house of Christian Dior paired these glasses with maxi-dresses and wild prints, offering a fun look for the season. British designer Giles Deacon utilized the curved lines and bold colors to support his whimsical tunics. And American stylist Jeremy Scott brought a rock and roll flavor to the proceedings — pairing cat eye playfulness with leather silhouettes. The juxtaposition was unexpected and utterly undeniable.
Spring is meant to celebrate style. Cat eye glasses allow that celebration to be an easy thing. This accessory is flattering to all facial shapes and will serve as a worthy complement to any outfit. Choose a variety of colors and sizes to make your days chic.
