Education has always been an important part of American society; ensuring our younger generations have the knowledge they need to someday run our country. Through this importance, there have been many changes to the overall education system within the country to improve the experience for both students and teachers. Some people might see most of these technological changes as vast improvements, while others might be more opposed. However, regardless of the way people feel about it, there is no denial that education has evolved with the times. Below is a list of some of the more notable changes regarding education over the past century. Implementation of Technology in the Classroom One of the largest changes in education has been the widespread use and adaptation of technology within the classroom. Twenty years ago, it was rare to find a computer within the classroom. However, now a days it is uncommon for there not be multiple computers readily available to students. Additionally, many improvements to gadgets such as projectors, televisions and recordable devices have given teachers more tools to convey points and present lessons. Online Learning Online learning was initially met with an undeniable skepticism among those who did not see it as a practical way for students to learn and get the attention they needed when compared to a traditional classroom. However, over the past five years, online learning has become an extremely popular facet in which people who do not have the time to attend a brick and mortar institution can learn at their convenience and still get a degree.
